2007
CINE-ONU began in 2007 as a one-off event. We had a great film by a wonderful director and we wanted people to see it.
The film was UN Footsoldiers and it depicted perfectly the work of UN staff in the field, in particular UN volunteers.
Here was an opportunity to raise awareness of the UN’s work around the world in an entertaining way, and after the success of the first event, we decided to screen a few more films.
This was how CINE-ONU was born.

The Brussels based United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe - UNRIC provides information on UN activities to the countries of the region.
